ICAO Council condemns Abha attack

MONTRÉAL, 25 June 2019 –  The Governing Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has expressed its condemnation when reacting to the news of the terrorist bombings reported at Abha International Airport, in Saudi Arabia.

The Council expressed its solidarity with the people and government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as its outrage over terrorist groups targeting international civil aviation passengers, facilities, and operations.

The Council further deplored the flagrant violation of international law and attack on civilians and civil aviation infrastructure, and conveyed its sympathies to the victims of the attack.​

The ICAO Council is a permanent body of the Organization responsible to the ICAO Assembly. It is comprised of 36 Representatives from Member States elected by the Assembly for a three-year term.
